About the Town & Subdivision

The town of Hopkinton was established in 1715 and is located in southwestern Middlesex County, Massachusetts, (26.4 miles) from Boston. Hopkinton gains widespread media attention in April of each year when the internationally known Boston Marathon is run. Runners from all over the world gather on Main Street to begin their 26-mile run along Route 135, passing through Legacy Farms.

Hopkinton has a population of 14,925 and is one of nine towns that are part of the region known as Metro-West. Hopkinton’s resourcefulness and spirit is shared by town residents, the local business and industrial communities, who volunteer and participate in town government, and contribute generously to community projects and programs. All residents and employees play a large part in carrying on the town’s nearly 300 years of history and tradition as a caring place to live.

Public and private recreational facilities in Hopkinton include the Hopkinton State Park, Whitehall State Park, the town beach on Lake Maspenock, the Saddle Hill Country Club and the YMCA. Cultural events include the Hopkinton Polyarts Festival, Fourth of July parade and bonfire, and the summer concert series on the Town Common.

The Town is proud of its community supported educational system and its new expanded recycling facility. In an unusual welcoming gesture, the Board of Selectmen writes a letter to each new resident describing Hopkinton’s facilities and programs and urging them to involve themselves in town affairs as part of “warm and friendly Hopkinton”

Parks & Recreation

Hopkinton also is home to several exceptional public and private recreational facilities. They include the Hopkinton State Park, Whitehall State Park, the town beach on Lake Maspenock, the Saddle Hill Country Club and the YMCA. Cultural events also abound and include the Hopkinton Polyarts Festival, Fourth of July parade and bonfire, and the summer concert series on the Town Common.

Legacy Farms is proud to bring to Hopkinton an additional 500 acres of preserved open space, including approximately ten miles of new walking and riding trails.

Boston Marathon

Hopkinton gains widespread media attention in April of each year when this internationally known marathon occurs. Competitors from all over the world gather on Main Street to begin their 26-mile run along Route 135, passing through Legacy Farms.

Legacy Farms is situated within a few hundred yards of the historic starting line of the Boston Marathon and is a proud supporter of all runners.
